Who Was Nick van Gelder?
Nick van Gelder was larger than life in wisdom, leadership, physical size, generosity, compassion, humour and ambition. He was many things to many people - a colleague, a mentor, a leader, a team mate, a friend, a son, a brother, a husband and a father to two beautiful daughters.
Nick lived life large with boundless energy and vigour forever dreaming big dreams and chasing adventure, be it in the boardroom, on the sporting field, travelling down the Amazon in a canoe or climbing Aconcagua. He challenged the world wanting to make it a better place - no dreams were ever too big and all dreams were there to be shared. Over the years, under Nick’s stewardship and guidance, successful businesses have been created, powerful networks formed, friendships fostered and unforgettable memories made and shared.
In all his endeavours, Nick was a man of enormous passion, strength and commitment. His ability to combine and excel in his professional, sporting, family and social life was natural and exceptional. He had an amazing ability to connect quickly and authentically with all people.
Nick left behind something special in all who knew him. He helped others to become better people. The Nick van Gelder Dreamers Foundation has been formed to pay forward the extraordinary legacy that Nick has left behind so that the next generation can continue to be guided and mentored by his principles, his work ethic and his enjoyment for life. Despite all the commitments in his life, Nick was always generous of spirit and by sharing his love for education, sport, the arts, cultural diversity and friendship the Foundation aims to honour his memory.
